Weihnachtsrückblick
Das Jahr 2008 ist ja bereits in vollen Zügen, mit Vorwahlkampf in den USA und auch in Hessen (ich hoffe, es kocht diesmal nicht). Also höchste Zeit, nochmal auf die schöne, ruhige Zeit um Weihnachten zurückzublicken (hier findet Ihr alle Photos).
Nachdem ich Googles Büro in München (tolle Lage am Marienplatz) besucht hatte, kam Vida kurz vor Weihnachten nach und wir haben zunächst mal Frankfurt und Umgebung angeschaut. “Umgebung” ist dabei natürlich im amerikanischen Sinne zu verstehen — Heidelberg und Darmstadt gehörten auch dazu.
Nach Weihnachten ging es dann in den Osten Deutschlands: nach Dresden und Berlin. Dresden war für mich auch neu und ich muss sagen: Wenn ihr Euch fragt wohin Euer Solidaritätszuschlag fließt, fahrt mal nach Dresden! Die Altstadt ist wirklich wunderschön restauriert. Unser Hotel war übrigens direkt am Altmarkt neben der Frauenkirche gelegen.
Berlin war natürlich viel zu groß, aber zumindest die Innenstadt, den Potsdamer Platz und das jüdische Museum haben wir gesehen. Vielen Dank auch an Thorsten, bei dem wir übernachtet haben und der uns immer mit tollem Frühstück verwöhnte.
Es war schön, in den zwei Wochen in Deutschland so viele Freunde, Familie, etc. wieder zu sehen. Falls Ihr plant, in diesem Jahr die Westküste von Amerika zu besuchen, würden wir die Gastfreundschaft gerne erwidern und Euch Kalifornien zeigen.
